Markdown for agents? Insanity 🤯

We’ve come to a new age where websites are optimized for machines instead of humans. We bags-of-water get bloated ad-filled pages, while the digital agents get clean text.

During my investigation to move myself away from Cloudflare, I found out the following: Cloudflare offers “markdown for agents”. It’s a feature for their paying customers. It’s insanity 🤯

My thinking on this evolved from positive to negative in four steps:

1. Great, no more bloated pages. Can I receive this markdown page in my browser also? I have ‘reader mode’ enabled by default, so this would be ideal.
2. Wait a minute, markdown is for writing. We already have a great reading experience which is semantic HTML. That language is infinitely more expressive.
3. This is absolutely bonkers. We humans get bloated and crappy pages filled with ads, while the machines get clean readable text?
4. And why is this a paid feature? Why the fuck should I pay Cloudflare so stupid AI-scrapers get lower token-costs?
