Bye, bye, Cloudflare ➡️ Mijn.Host
I’m on a quest to swap out American services for European ones. This time I’ve swapped put Cloudflare on this blog.
I’ve been a happy Cloudflare user for years. It’s a simple set-and-forget caching and DNS-service. But, it is American and I want to move away from USA-based services in favor of European ones (go team Europe!).
Instead I am now using my registrars’ own DNS. In addition I’ve moved the hosting away from Gitlab Pages (also to Mijn.Host), but the CI/CD is still done by them. They are originally Dutch, now US-based.
This increases the costs on this blog from “free” to “cheap”, but increases the options for me. I can do backend stuff as well for some experiments (not the blog, though, that will remain static-generated).
Let me know if you bump into any problems!
